Sarking is a layer of insulation installed under roof tiles, consisting of foil laminated onto paper or plastic backing with a retardant adhesive and fibreglass reinforcing mesh. Sarking, when combined with Bradford Gold Insulation can improve thermal comfort by reducing radiant heat entering your home and helps to keep your property insulated in summer and retain warmth in winter.
Sarking provides physical protection against the elements such as burning embers and radiant heat and is therefore mandatory in bushfire prone areas.
Environseal Sarking is;
- Fire retardant
- Suitable as a reflective insulation under metal roofs, concrete and terracotta tiled roofs
- Suitable for use in cyclone and bushfire prone areas
R Values Explained
The thicker or denser the insulation is, the more it resists the heat flowing through it. This resistance is measured by the R-value of the insulation. The higher the R-value, the better the insulation’s performance. Some properties may only require an average R value whereas other properties may require a higher value – this is why we work with Bradford, so that we can provide the optimum product to satisfy our customers’ bespoke requirements.
Building Code of Australia (BCA) Minimum R-value Requirements for Perth
|Ceilings||Minimum R-value Requirement|
|Very light coloured roofs||R4.1|
|Light coloured roofs||R4.6|
|Dark coloured roofs||R5.1|
|90mm studs, brick veneer||R2.5|
|90mm studs, lightweight cladding||R2.7|
The Edmonds range of home ventilation products work alongside insulation and draught control to create more comfortable and energy efficient homes. The Edmonds Windmaster (TM) is designed to remove hot air from ceiling voids in summer and is suitable for both tiled and metal roofs.
Constructed from light-weight aluminium, being very quiet in operation and being available in a large range of colours means the ventilation system does not impose on the look of your roof or the ambience of your home.
